summer challenge - week 4

Week 4 already and nothing has changed, seriously nothing.  I am trying not to get discouraged, instead I have shifted my goal to something more reasonable.  I mean in an ideal world I would have quickly dropped 10 pounds in just a couple weeks with minimal effort - heck in an ideal world I would naturally be at my goal weight period.  Well this isn't an ideal world so I have to be realistic.  I am not ready to completely overhaul my whole lifestyle just to meet my weight loss goals.  I eat pretty healthy on a regular basis so I know all I am missing is a consistent workout schedule.  I can do that.  I need to tweak the life I am living now to include time to workout as much as possible and I know I will meet my goal in just a couple months.

So this challenge is gonna turn into a fall challenge starting September 20 (right after Kevin and I get back from our romantic weekend away).  I intend to reach my goal weight by Christmas and just focus on eating healthy and working out.  Woohoo I can do it!  Here is my week 4 summary:

Workout: ummmmmmm what workouts?
Food Journal: maintained 5 entries (meh...)
Thought of the week: I need to be realistic in my goals

Summer challenge - week 3

Hmmmm week three.  Well I haven't seen the results I have been hoping for yet and it has gotten me a little down.  The thing is my weight loss goal is completely obtainable.  I have all the power I need to accomplish my goal, but maybe my time frame is a little too ambitious.  While I would love to lose 10 pounds by September 17 I can't allow myself to get discouraged if it doesn't happen.  My overall goal is to get into a productive and consistent workout routine and eat healthier - which will lead to weight loss.  I really can't put a deadline on my overall goal.  I have to keep reminding myself that doing the best that I can every day is all I can ask of myself.  I tend to really beat myself up when I don't workout every day I plan to or I eat a couple things that I know I shouldn't but all that does is focus on the negative.  What about all the other days I have stuck to my plan?  I can't dwell on the times I haven't done my best because that just keeps me looking into the past.  I need to focus on the future and doing the best that I can every day.  So here is my week three summary:

Workouts: 4
Food Journal: maintained 6 entries
Thought of the Week: Ugh, this is hard:(

P.S. I will try to do some more exciting stuff in between each of these posts because they are kinda boring.  I will have a fun labor day post up soon!

summer challenge - week 2

Hmmmm well I was off to a great start last week but I have slacked a little this week.  Oh well:(  It is certainly not the end of the world and instead of dwelling on what I didn't do so well last week I will just focus on my energy on stepping it up this week (as I write this I am laughing at myself for deciding not to go to the gym today, so much for starting out strong, haha).  I have three weeks until my vacation with Kevin so I need to get super serious about this challenge.  Here is my week 2 summary:

Workouts: 3 (ugh not so great)
Food Journal: maintained 6 entries
Thought of the week: If at first you don't succeed, try try again!

summer challenge... week 1?

Is it cheating to start my summer workout challenge from the beginning again?  I sure hope not because that is what I am doing, haha.  The month of July was pretty crazy and emotionally draining with the move and some other stuff going on in my life so working out was not on my agenda.  Now that we are two weeks into August and my 4 year anniversary vacation with Kevin (first vacation we have ever taken together) is just a month away I have to seriously kick my butt into gear.

This week went surprisingly well.  I am not quite sure what happened to make me more motivated than I have been in months, but I am so happy that I have gotten back to the gym.  I had forgotten how great I feel when I am working out on a regular basis.  I am finally feeling excited about this challenge.  Here is my week one summery:

Workouts: 5
Food Journal: maintained 7 entries
Thought of the week: I am strong enough to do this!

summer challege - week 1

So this was not the stellar, motivating, euphoric first week that I was anticipating for the beginning of my summer challenge but you know I have to keep some perspective and remember that life isn't gonna just slow down so that I can only focus on getting myself in shape.  There will always be plans that involve eating food I shouldn't, there will always be something that makes getting to the gym a little difficult so the bigger part of this challenge is to make eating well and working out a priority that I can make work no matter what my schedule looks like.  I have also been sick and Kevin and I are in the middle of packing our apartment for the big move on Friday, ugh not fun!  Instead of being discouraged by the slow start to my challenge I am going to just focus on doing a better job for week 2.   So here is my week one summery:

Weight: 131 (ouch!)
Workouts: 1
Food Journal: maintained 2 entries
Thought of the week: Change isn't easy!

summer "get my butt in shape" challenge.

So I mentioned in a post a couple weeks back that I was planning a little summer challenge for myself so here it is.  Over the past couple months I have completely ignored the gym and haven't been great about maintaining a healthy balanced diet so for the next two months I am kicking myself back into gear.  My ultimate goal is to lose 15 pounds (though I would be happy to lose 10) by September 17 for my anniversary trip with Kevin.

Every Sunday I will do a weekly re-cap of how many times I worked out, how many days I followed my eating plan, how I have been feeling overall and a weekly positive thought to keep myself optimistic about the process.  I will also include my weight every two weeks.

I know that my weight is not a direct reflection of my progress so if I don't lose a my goal weight by September I wont be disappointed because I will have gotten myself back into a healthy workout and eating routine.  Overall I just want to be a happier, healthier and at least a little thinner version of myself at the end of this challenge.

Some of my more devoted readers may have noticed that I haven't done an outfit shot in a while.  I don't think I will be doing many outfit posts for the next month or two because honestly I just don't feel like I look that great these days.  I have many new things to show off and I can't wait to drop a couple pounds and get back into dressing myself up.  Here are some of the goodies I can't wait to style:
