lace that s*^t up

I am seriously loving laced up boots for fall.  I have been eying a couple pairs and I think I may have found the ones!  All the detailing really makes these boots to die for.  Now the difficult decision is whether I should get a black pair or a brown pair... which will be more versatile?
For once I think I may be leaning towards the brown - very unlike me.

All I am thinking about these days is dressing for fall, fall, FALL.  I couldn't be more excited for cooler weather, layers and boots!!!

jeffrey campbell rocks my world

I seriously can't get enough of these shoes!!!  I have been looking at them for months, no joke.  They are gonna be amazing for fall and I really think I need to buy myself a pair.
Now I have to convince Kevin that they aren't goth... I mean seriously goth?!?!?! What is that boy thinking???

p.s. have you noticed that I have a shoes obsession?

summer challenge - week 4

Week 4 already and nothing has changed, seriously nothing.  I am trying not to get discouraged, instead I have shifted my goal to something more reasonable.  I mean in an ideal world I would have quickly dropped 10 pounds in just a couple weeks with minimal effort - heck in an ideal world I would naturally be at my goal weight period.  Well this isn't an ideal world so I have to be realistic.  I am not ready to completely overhaul my whole lifestyle just to meet my weight loss goals.  I eat pretty healthy on a regular basis so I know all I am missing is a consistent workout schedule.  I can do that.  I need to tweak the life I am living now to include time to workout as much as possible and I know I will meet my goal in just a couple months.

So this challenge is gonna turn into a fall challenge starting September 20 (right after Kevin and I get back from our romantic weekend away).  I intend to reach my goal weight by Christmas and just focus on eating healthy and working out.  Woohoo I can do it!  Here is my week 4 summary:

Workout: ummmmmmm what workouts?
Food Journal: maintained 5 entries (meh...)
Thought of the week: I need to be realistic in my goals

I am seriously LUSTING over these shoes!  Dilemma: purple or black, purple or black.  My gut says purple but my practical side says black...

house tours of mystic.

*Warning: there are tons of pictures in this post*
This Saturday Kevin, Nick and I headed down to Groton Long Point, CT for a weekend by the ocean.  My dad's parents have owned a summer house in Groton Long Point for hmmmm well a long time.  When Nick and I were little we used to spend a couple weeks there every summer.  We have so many fond memories of climbing on the rocks, crabbing, swimming on south beach, biking around the point and causing trouble with out cousins.  It is one of my favorite places to be although I haven't spent much time there over the past 5 years.  Sadly, this house is going to go on the market soon so this weekend could be the last weekend we spend there:( The house is right on the water and the views are just perfect.  It was extremely windy there Saturday and Sunday (thank you Earl) so the water was a little out of control.
Saturday night we grilled burgers and watched the sunset, it was gorgeous!
On Sunday my uncle Jim and his new wife Terry came over to BBQ with my cousin Charles.  It was so great to see them.  Nick and Charles played guitar together - I love listening to them play together.
They even went diving off east dock.
That afternoon we went to visit my Grandmother Baba at the nursing home she is living in.  It was really great to see her, I think we really made her day.  I hadn't seen her since Christmas, Nick hadn't seen her since Christmas of 2008 and Kevin had never met her.  I won't see her this Christmas so it was very important for me to spend some time with her.
On Monday morning we went to Kitchen Little for breakfast.  Then we went to the Mystic Aquarium!  It was such a blast.
We saw sea lions.
Penguins.
Sharks and jellyfish.
and the sea lion show.
 Oh, hello Nick:)
There was an exhibit where we got to feed a whole ton of birds.  It was hilarious.  This was probably my favorite part of the aquarium!
After the aquarium walked around downtown Mystic and even got to see the drawbridge go up.
Here are a couple pictures around the house.  I will really miss this place!

Summer challenge - week 3

Hmmmm week three.  Well I haven't seen the results I have been hoping for yet and it has gotten me a little down.  The thing is my weight loss goal is completely obtainable.  I have all the power I need to accomplish my goal, but maybe my time frame is a little too ambitious.  While I would love to lose 10 pounds by September 17 I can't allow myself to get discouraged if it doesn't happen.  My overall goal is to get into a productive and consistent workout routine and eat healthier - which will lead to weight loss.  I really can't put a deadline on my overall goal.  I have to keep reminding myself that doing the best that I can every day is all I can ask of myself.  I tend to really beat myself up when I don't workout every day I plan to or I eat a couple things that I know I shouldn't but all that does is focus on the negative.  What about all the other days I have stuck to my plan?  I can't dwell on the times I haven't done my best because that just keeps me looking into the past.  I need to focus on the future and doing the best that I can every day.  So here is my week three summary:

Workouts: 4
Food Journal: maintained 6 entries
Thought of the Week: Ugh, this is hard:(

P.S. I will try to do some more exciting stuff in between each of these posts because they are kinda boring.  I will have a fun labor day post up soon!
