we're the three best friend that anyone could have.

On March 6 my youngest brother Merrick and I boarded a plane to Ft. Lauderdale, FL to visit my younger and his older brother Nick. Nick has been living in Delray Beach, FL for about 9 months now and since he wasn’t able to make it home for Christmas my parents bought plane tickets for Merrick and me to visit him – best Christmas present ever (thank you Mom and Dad)! It was such an amazing trip. We have always been really close and I think this trip brought us even closer. We really are best friends and I love both my brothers so much. I feel like the luckiest big sister in the whole world, I can’t express how much I treasure the family I have – I get choked up just thinking about lucky I am.

The first night we were there Nick and Merrick played a show together at Koffeeokee (a coffee house where Nick plays every so often). There was such a great crowd, the place was packed! They hadn’t played a show in so long, but they played so well and were so happy to be together. It made me so proud to watch how great they played, they were having so much fun and the crowd loved it!

And they made some money.

On Sunday we went to see an M.C. Escher show at the Boca Raton Art Museum. Wow it was crazy! The work he did just blows my mind. I bought a book to bring home to show Kevin, it makes a great addition to our (very, very slowly) growing collection of books.

That night we made two incredible pizzas – one with pesto, fresh mozzarella, tomato, fresh basil:

One with pesto, fresh mozzarella, gorgonzola, caramelized onions and rosemary:

They have Eskimos in Florida?

On Monday we went to see Alice and Wonderland in 3D. If anyone hasn’t seen it yet I would definitely recommend it! Here is the crazy tree Nick showed us before we went to the movie...

On Tuesday morning we woke up at 5:30am – I know that’s crazy early but Nick gets up at that time everyday for work, I don’t know if I could do that. We got up, ate breakfast and hopped in the car to drive about an hour and a half to Fort Drum, FL to check out Ruck’s Pit. Ruck’s Pit is a place where people can dig for calcified clam shells. Basically it is an open field with large piles on dirt brought in from the mine that you dig through to uncover glorious orange crystals. It was so much fun! We brought home some great souveniors:

Tuesday night I took Nick and Merrick out to a nice dinner in downtown Delray. Dinner was so delicious, thank you Lemongrass. Then we got ice cream and walked along downtown towards the ocean. We just joked and laughed the whole time. We have so much fun together!!! It was a great way to spend our last night.

Wednesday was the day we had to leave, so sad:( We got up, packed our stuff, loaded the car and headed to a bird watching place we had gone to the first afternoon we arrived. There were so many colorful birds and we even got to see alligators! While I thought my camera was cool it was totally blown out of the water by all the old people who had camera lenses that we like 3 feet long, some were even camo, damn I wish I had snapped a picture of them.

I love my brothers to death and I hope we get to have more adventures together soon. Nick will be spending the summer in Lakeville and I am so excited that both my brothers will be home so Kevin and I can make lots of trips up to visit.
