apple picking

I love Fall, it is definitely my favorite season though it seems like we are currently being cheated out of fall here in NY.  We had a glimpse of fall weather and now its back to being 80 degrees outside, I'm over this.  I want a real fall... I want tights and boots weather!!!  Anyway, enough with my complaining.

One of the things I most look forward to in fall is apple picking.  A couple weekends ago Kevin, Will, Jenna, Alex, Max and I traveled to Chester, NJ to go apple picking.  Guess what, it was 80 freakin' degrees... booooo.  Even though it was way to warm it didn't stop us from having a good time.  I picked way too many apples as usual and was sweaty and hot from dragging my heavy bag of apples around with me.

Now I am making applesauce... lots and lots of applesauce!!!

FUN! I've never made applesauce! Share your recipe!!

I can't get over this "fall" weather either. We totally had a case of Indian Summer...but now it's cold and rainy! WAAAH! haha!

The other day, Zach was like, "You haven't bothered me to go apple picking or anything this year..."

It totally slipped my mind...there aren't many good places down here. We went last year and they didn't even give us the picker thingies to get the ones up high! LAME!

It was a lot of fun!! I don't follow a recipe for applesauce because it is soooo easy. If I make another batch I will definitely photograph the process and do a post. Basically, I peel and chop apples, fill my biggest pot to the brim with them, add 2 cinnamon sticks, a healthy dose of cinnamon and nutmeg, the juice of 1 lemon, 2 or 3 strips of lemon peel and about 1/2 cup of water... put on the stove to simmer for about an hour and a half stirring occasionally. After it has cooked either put it through a food mill or mash with a potato masher... its super easy and delicious!!!

You should go apple picking... start harassing Zach. There are too many amazing apple goodies to make! I am making apple pumpkin muffins this weekend (maybe I should blog about it). The great thing about apple picking is that it really doesn't take that long:)

P.S. LOVING your pink hair... super cute!!!
