birthday wishlist

So it's my birthday this month.  Every year around this time I go through a "I don't want to celebrate my birthday and I don't want any presents" phase, it drives Kevin crazy.  He thinks its ridiculous that I'm not excited about my birthday and absolutely absurd that I don't want any presents.  I guess it's just that I don't really like to be the center of attention and I don't need people buying me stuff.  My sentiments usually change about a week before my birthday, I get excited and decide I want to celebrate.  Also, even though I say I don't want presents I think deep down I would be really bummed out if Kevin actually listened to me and didn't get me anything.  Soooo... I have decided to put together a little birthday wish list because I pretend shop for myself all the time so why not share my thoughts.

iPhone 4... I am really wanting to upgrade my current iPhone 3G but totally lack the funds even with the discount I would get renewing my ATT contract, oh well.

A weekend bag... I desperately need a cute weekend bag that can fit all the stuff I usually take on weekends away (I'm sick of lugging around multiple bags).

I am sure I could come up with more things but I don't need to get carried away.  One thing I would really really really love is a new big camera with a badass lense that I can take on my honeymoon with Kevin.  I really need to start practicing with the one I have so I can take the best pictures possible come honeymoon time.  I love the camera I have but it doesn't have manual focus (the lense doesn't turn) so I can adjust the focus the way I would want to sometimes.  I really just need to sit down with a very patient camera guru who can show me all about my camera.

To be honest, even though I could pretend shop for myself all day long I have so much more fun buying presents for other people.  Even though my birthday is only two weeks away I am more excited about Kevin's birthday that won't happen for another 7 months (I want to make Kevin's first married birthday extra special:)

Oh well my birthday countdown is in full fource, eek!  It is my last "unmarried" birthday:)

Yesterday was Kevin's 26th birthday, his last unmarried birthday.  We celebrated by going out to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants Kuma Inn.  We stuffed ourselves full of pork buns, ahi tuna, edemame, chinese sausage, noodles and pork tonkatsu.  Yum!

I also got him a remote control cooler.  He is so excited to use it!

Yesterday was my dad's birthday!  HAPPY (belated) BIRTHDAY DAD!!!  I love you so much!!!

I wish I could have gone home to see him but I will be going home this weekend instead.  I cannot wait to go home to see my parents!   

marissa's birthday dinner.

On Friday night we had a dinner party at La Nonna for Marissa's 26th birthday dinner.  The food was out of this world and it was so nice to finally have a girl's night out!!!

I had the most incredible pizza for dinner... fresh mozzarella, arugula, prosciutto and parmesan.

Claudia had some super yummy pasta... I forget what it was though, oops.

Claudia brought Marissa a housewarming present... new Absolute Brooklyn vodka, how perfect!

Happy 26th Birthday MARISSA!!!  I am so happy we because such close friends this year, I don't know what I would do without you:)

Phew the weekend before last was the best weekend ever!  It was so full of great music, good friends and lots of dancing. So Friday night (6/18) was my brother's concert in Brooklyn.  Kevin, Cobe, Max, Alex and I gathered at our apartment and then headed to Brooklyn on the subway.  We got off the L in Brooklyn in the middle of the warehouse district, it was a little sketchy but we kept going until we came across 538 Johnson Ave.  After climbing very graffiti covered stairs and strolling down a graffiti covered hallway we stepped foot into Lou's huge loft apartment.  My brother's were setting up all their gear on the stage in the living room area. 

It was so awesome to see my brothers on my birthday!!!  I love them both so much and I am so happy Nick is home for the summer.  I can't wait to see much more of them in the next couple months.

birthday bling.

Well by now you have all realized that I am head over heels in love with my boyfriend.  He is so loving and supportive and we have so much fun together.  What I don't think I have mentioned is what he does for a living, brace yourselves ladies because you might get jealous:)  Kevin is a gemologist which means that he knows everything there is to know about diamonds and all colored gemstones.  He works for the Natural Sapphire Company as their head gemologist and purchasing director.  Over the 3 and 3/4 years that we have been dating he has gotten me some pretty amazing presents but the ring he gave me for my 25th birthday is really mind-blowing.  Are you ready?  Here it is:

He was in Sri Lanka for two weeks in May to buy sapphires for his company when he came across this stone.  It is tri-colored: green, blue and yellow.  Isn't it the most gorgeous thing you have ever seen?   He saw the stone and knew I would love it.  Boy was he right, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this ring:)

Today is officially my 25th birthday!  Tonight we are going to Brooklyn to see my brothers play a concert and then tomorrow morning we get up bright and early to drive to Saratoga for two nights of PHISH at SPAC.  I couldn't be more excited!!!  I am so lucky to be able to spend my birthday with my brothers.  I will do a big post about all the weekend festivities when we return on Monday.  Have a great weekend!

claudia's birthday dinner.

On Friday night Claudia, Marissa, Kerry and I all went out to dinner at Pala to celebrate Claudia's birthday.  We ate the most delicious pizza, drank some wine, chatted and laughed.  It was truly one of the best dinners.  I LOVE spending time with those girls!

 After dinner we stopped by Ella to have a delicious watermelon vodka drink... we felt so old, haha.  The place was jam packed with bitchy people getting wasted, we were in the mood for something more mellow.  

 Kevin came to meet us at One and One afterward for a beer.  We only lasted for one beer and then all decided to call it a night.  Happy Birthday Claudia!!!
