the Jen Loves Kev dress.

So I just had to snatch up the Jen Loves Kev dress from Modcloth after I saw Jen's post about becoming Modcloth's Blogger of the Moment - congrats Jen!!!  Seeing fashion bloggers style articles of clothing I wouldn't necessarily be drawn to has been really inspiring lately.  I was a little unsure about how the ruffles on the front of the dress would look on me.  But I gave the dress a try when it arrived in the mail and I instantly fell in love.
I had to throw on an orange cardigan to add a pop of color because I decided to wear the dress with black tights.  Jen belted the dress when she wore it and I thought I just had to as well because it defines my waist.
I also tried wearing knee socks and I must say that they looked my cuter than I thought they would.
On another note I painted my nails bright purple on Friday, what an awesome way to brighten my mood:)
Sorry for the crappy photo quality, they really don't do the colors justice.

i found my wedding dress!

This past Saturday I went to Kleifeld with my mother, Kevin's mother and two of my bridesmaids to look for my wedding dress.  It was a dream to go to Kleinfeld to look for a dress.  I am sure many of you watch the show Say Yes to the Dress, hehe.  I was pretty nervous before we walked inside, I think I was actually shaking.  I have no idea why I was nervous.

Me and my momma!
Me, momma and Cyndi.
Me and Catharine (my maid of honor).
Marissa was running late (stupid NYC subways) so we couldn't get a picture together beforehand but Cyndi snapped this photo after we bought the dress.

Walking into Kleinfeld was so dreamy.  We were instantly surrounded by beautiful dresses.  Our consultant, Nora, came out to meet us and took us back to a dressing room.  I showed her all the pictures I had brought, we talked about my price point and she went off to pull some of my favorite dresses.  I put of the first couple dresses, I liked them all and started to get nervous that I wasn't gonna know when I found my dress.  I really liked all the dresses I was putting on, there were some things I didn't 100% love but they were all so gorgeous.  Here is a couple of the dresses I put on.

(Jim Hjelm via - I think I tried this one on, at least something very similar)

Then Nora brought in an Alita Graham dress that made me squeal with delight.  I instantly loved it.  When I put it on I just knew I had found my dress!  I was beaming.  I couldn't stop moving around letting the bottom of the dress flow, eek I couldn't stop touching it.  It was a feeling I hadn't gotten in any of the other dresses.  Everyone else in the room knew it was my dress too.  They all said that the second I put the dress on my face just lit up.  I really wish I could post a picture of the dress but I have to keep it a secret from Kevin.  I won't say anything else about my dress, ugh I have such a hard time keeping secrets and I have to keep this secret for 8 whole months.

I can't believe that dress shopping is already over, it was too easy, hehe.  Now I am on the lookout for the perfect pair of shoes, yippee!

Thank you so much mom for spending this wonderful day with me and buying me my dream wedding dress, I love you!!!

happy birthday my love.

Yesterday was Kevin's 26th birthday, his last unmarried birthday.  We celebrated by going out to dinner at one of our favorite restaurants Kuma Inn.  We stuffed ourselves full of pork buns, ahi tuna, edemame, chinese sausage, noodles and pork tonkatsu.  Yum!

Happy birthday my love!!!
I got him a tide stain stick and guess what... he had to use it twice at dinner, haha.
I also got him a remote control cooler.  He is so excited to use it!

I love you!

montana for christmas

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.  This year I decided not to stay home with my family and instead to travel to the snowy land of Big Sky, Montana to spend the holiday with Kevin's Family.  The last time I spent Christmas with Kevin's family was in 2007 so it was about time I made the trip out there again.  This Christmas was extra special because we got to meet Henry (our nephew) for the very first time.  The trip was filled with many fires in the fireplace, the best breakfasts ever (thank you big Tom!), my first deep-fried turkey, skiing, yummy beer (and cheap beer too - NYC prices are so inflated), a professional photo shoot, hunting for a 14 foot Christmas tree in 3 feet of snow, snowshoeing for the first time, seeing a moose, seeing big horned sheep and elk, opening endless amounts of presents and lots of love.  I am really looking forward to my next trip out there.

Unfortunately I was a total loser and didn't take any photos.  I really need to step up my photo taking in 2011.  Here are a couple of the very few photos I did take.
Isn't Montana beautiful?

i think i need these

To die for, enough said.

a little new year's run with Phish

Kevin and I rang in the new year with a Phish's 3 night New Year's Run.  It was AMAZING!  We returned from a great week in Montana and went straight to the first show, well not before we dropped our bags off at home.  Each night we started at Foley's, a bar on 33 St b/w 5 and 6 avenues.  Our friend Mike, we know him from Genesis, is the manager there.  The whole routine felt so silly by the third night, total deja vu.

The first night was incredible.  We didn't think it could get any better but trust me it did:)  Some highlights include (ummm everything, haha) Citites, Halley's Comet, Maze, Golgi Apparatus, Theme From The Bottom and Tweezer + Tweezer Reprise.
The second night was New Years and boy what a show it was, eep I still get giddy just thinking about it.  Highlights were... the incredible Meatstick to ring in the New Year!!!  They brought 50 Broadway dancers, dressed in clothing from around the world, to do the meatstick dance on stage.  With all the people on stage I didn't even realize that Phish had left stage until there was a huge cloud of smoke just below us to the left and Phish came riding out above the crowd in a giant hotdog while red "meatstick" balloons rained from the ceiling... ummmm AMAZING.  They borrowed the hotdog from the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for the show.
Other highlights were teasing Auld Land Syne during Ocelot (first set), First Tube encore, Ghost, Weigh, Piper, Free, Slave to the Traffic Light... I could list every song from the show haha.
The third night I couldn't believe we were actually going to a Phish concert again.  This night felt more mellow probably because we were pretty tired.  Phish certainly didn't go easy on the last night.  They played so many amazing songs!  Highlights include Tube, Divided Sky, Reba, Crosseyed and Painless, Makisupa Policeman, David Bowie and the Fee and Frankenstein encore.
I am so bummed that it is over and cannot wait for Phish to announce their next tour.  We will be there!

new years resolutions

2011 is going to be a great year.  I am going to get married to the love of my life... AHHH I AM SO EXCITED!!!  I have decided to set a couple goals for myself for this new year.  I want to become the healthiest and best version of myself so I can be the best wife possible.

1 get a new job - this is a very important one!
2 lose 20 pounds for my wedding in September
3 give the Paleo diet a shot
4 find myself a creative outlet... maybe I need to get back into jewelry making or start crocheting
5 run the NYC half marathon
6 find a new apartment and make it a home
7 do more outfit posts on my blog
8 take a lot more pictures/learn how to use my camera better

I don't think I have ever been this excited for a new year to start.  There are so many wonderful things ahead of me.  Bring it on 2011!!!
