i feel like a jerk:(

I never thought anyone looked at my blog except my mom, Kevin's mom and a couple of my friends.  Yesterday while procrastinating at work I looked through my old blog posts and realized that there were comments on some of my posts.  I clicked on one and realized it was from a very very sweet woman I did not know... OMG someone who I don't even know is looking at my blog!?!?!  I got a little giddy and kept clicking on the comments.  Low and behold 5 people I have never met before had visited my blog and left lovely comments.  I felt like a celebrity for a few minutes and then I just started to feel like a jerk.  These people had taken time to look at my blog and leave a comment and I never ever responded.  What kinda of blogger am I?  I pride myself on being a thoughtful person and I disappointed myself.

So for the 5 lovely woman who commented on my blog THANK YOU!  You kind words really brightened my day.  I have become a follower of each of your blogs and I can't wait to read about all your upcoming adventures and styling escapades.  Everyone should check out their blogs...

when life give you lemons...

...burst into tears because you wanted limes and throw them at the person closest to you.  July has been hard, like really hard.  The packing/moving/unpacking/getting new furniture/assembling new furniture/living amongst boxes has my stress levels through the roof and I fear I am inching closer and closer to my breaking point.  On top of all that I have really reached my wits end with my job, but the thought of looking for a new job completely freaks me out.  It kinda feels like all the walls are closing in on me and I just want everything to STOP!  Can life please just pause so that I can get myself grounded again?  I haven't even started my summer workout challenge and I am feeling so guilty about it.  I fear that the time between now and Kevin and my anniversary trip is getting smaller and smaller and I will just end up sitting on a beach chair, looking like an albino whale scaring everyone else at the Sagamore.

I really want to get out of this funk.  I don't like feeling like this and I know this isn't the kind of person I am supposed to be.  This weekend Kevin and I are headed to Lakeville to spend time with my family and get out of this stupid city (just kidding, I love NYC but this heat and moving drama has me needing some country living badly).  Kevin and I haven't eaten a home cooked meal in almost three weeks and I am practically drooling just thinking about all the yummy things I will eat out of my parent's garden.  I can't wait to be home with my family!

Tonight Claudia, Marissa, Kerry and I are going to see Get Him to the Greek and I couldn't be more excited to see these girls and have a good laugh!  I forgot my camera (boo!) but I will try to snap some iPhone pics to post tomorrow.
Update: No pics, sorry, but the movie was HILARIOUS!!!  I would definitely recommend seeing it if you have a good sense of humor.  I can't wait to add it to my DVD collection.

P.S.  Kevin has been great to me over this past month.  He has been very patient and loving and I couldn't be more thankful to have him by my side.  I am one lucky girl!!!

sometimes you just need to have fun.

This move has been unbelievably stressful and tedious.  We have been living in our apartment for just over a week and we still have boxes everywhere.  We are at an unpacking standstill because in order to unpack the all our dishes and kitchen stuff we need to get a big cabinet, in order to finish setting up the living room we need a TV stand and a tall bookcase, in order to finish unpacking and organizing the bedroom we need a bed frame... it just never ends.
Tuesday night we got to go to a Yankees game!  Marty is away on vacation and couldn't go to the game so he gave Kevin and I his tickets.  It could not have come at a better time... right when I am about to rip my hair out, burst into tears and totally give up on the apartment Kevin and I got to have some FUN!!!  Unfortunately, the Yankees lost but it was still a great time.  I really needed a hot Italian sausage and a couple cold bud lights.
Saturday morning we are heading to IKEA bright and early to brave the chaos and hopefully get the rest of the furniture we need to finish unpacking and setting up the apartment.  Sunday we are going to Home Depot to hopefully get a grill, an outdoor table and some outdoor chairs.  While this weekend will be a lot of work I am so excited about it because I will finally be able to get the rest of the boxes out of the apartment and start decorating.  By this time next week we should be finishing hanging up all the artwork and grilling our first meal on the roof deck... I can't wait!!!

P.S.  Kevin has gone an entire week without TV at home, he seems to be surviving so far but I fear he wont last much longer, haha.

dinner with good friends.

Last night we had a Hotchkiss dinner at Claudia's apartment.  It was the first dinner we have done in months, we are seriously slacking.  It has been a little crazy because some of us have moved and summer always makes life a little busier.  I do promise to host more dinners once we get our new apartment unpacked.

So last night we started off with a gorgeous appetizer spread (we were pretty much too full to eat dinner after all this).  We had five different kinds of cheese, kalamata olives, crackers, 2 kinds of salami and gorgeous caprese skewers.  It was heavenly!
After stuffing our faces with appetizers we had angel hair pasta with grated cheese, fresh basil and tomatoes.  Delicious!  It was a great meal to have on such a hot night.

It was so nice to spend some time with my great friends in the middle of all the hellish moving drama.  I definitely needed a relaxing night with these guys.  I am so lucky to have such amazing friends and live so close to them!

i'll be back

I know I have been absent from the blogging world for over a week now and I promise I will be back soon to more consistent posting.  Over the past two weeks I have gotten sick and Kevin and I have packed up and moved to a new apartment so blogging has taken a back seat.  I have also packed up my camera cord in some box and have no idea which box that is now so I cannot upload photos till I find that stupid cord, ugh!

I will be back with a post about our new apartment soon.  Kevin and I are so thrilled with the place but there is definitely a lot of work to be done.  The roof deck is so much bigger than I remember it being, yay!  It is very sad to say goodbye to the apartment that Kevin and I have lived in for two years but we are moving on to bigger (well actually a little smaller) and better things.  I just can't wait to settle into the new apartment and get back into a calmer life routine filled with lots of morning gym trips, grilling and tanning on the roof.

Is anyone else DYING in this heat?  Please tell me its not going to be 90 degrees and humid all summer!

P.S.  If you noticed that I didn't do a summer challenge post this Sunday please overlook that and please overlook the fact that I probably won't do one this Sunday either.  Life has been a little crazy and stressful and I haven't made my challenge a priority at all so instead of writing about my failures I am just going to do my next post after my first good week (which will be next week, I promise!!!).

i challenge you to a rib-off.

Yesterday Kevin and I went over to Darren's rooftop for the 2nd Annual Weiss Rib-off.  Each year on the 4th of July weekend we have a rib cook-off.  As usual I baked cupcakes and decorated the with full on patriotic flair.
"Commisioner" Darren and "Deputy Commisioner" Orla resided over the festivities.
We always have to go over the rules and make sure everyone knows how to vote correctly.  This is serious business.
Check out the official sign!
Kevin's ribs were out of this world!
Paul won the coveted white apron.
Darren is so official.
What a great group.  I can't wait for next year!

summer challege - week 1

So this was not the stellar, motivating, euphoric first week that I was anticipating for the beginning of my summer challenge but you know I have to keep some perspective and remember that life isn't gonna just slow down so that I can only focus on getting myself in shape.  There will always be plans that involve eating food I shouldn't, there will always be something that makes getting to the gym a little difficult so the bigger part of this challenge is to make eating well and working out a priority that I can make work no matter what my schedule looks like.  I have also been sick and Kevin and I are in the middle of packing our apartment for the big move on Friday, ugh not fun!  Instead of being discouraged by the slow start to my challenge I am going to just focus on doing a better job for week 2.   So here is my week one summery:

Weight: 131 (ouch!)
Workouts: 1
Food Journal: maintained 2 entries
Thought of the week: Change isn't easy!
